Sean Fitzgerald


Sean is the founder and chief executive officer of Sentenial and has overseen the company’s rapid growth as a specialist Direct Debit enterprise solution and services provider to Corporates and Financial Institution Sean has been involved with the EC during the creation of the SEPA legal framework, helping to advise on the direct debit considerations for SEPA. Sean has a 20 year track record of successfully building and leading innovative and entrepreneurial businesses. Before founding Sentenial in 2003, Sean held senior management roles in the global microelectronics and speciality chemicals industries driving the introduction of new technologies. He is a science graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.

Liliana Fratini Passi


Liliana Fratini Passi is the Secretary of ACBI, the Italian Interbank Corporate Banking Association. ACBI, created under the auspices of ABI (Italian Banker's Association), owns the governance of the CBI Service, which is a system developed to facilitate the corporate management of electronic multibanking connections.

Currently the CBI Service enables over 700.000 companies to access payment services offered by more than 680 Banks (>90% of Italian Banks). Since 2002, Liliana has coordinated the project for the complete renewal of CBI services, in order to improve/extend the range of CBI payment services; in fact, CBI services now include XML based payment and document management services such as electronic invoicing, SEPA Credit Transfers and (in the next future) Direct Debit. New CBI services will also include the “Invoice Financing Request”, whose business model and XML messages have been recently registered by ACBI into ISO20022 Repository.

Liliana is a senior industry expert on payment industry: she has more than ten years of experience on payment services for banks and corporates, including Global Payments and Clearing Infrastructures (ACH, EBA, SWIFT, TARGET etc.). She is member of ISO20022 Registration Management Group, TBG5 Working Group , EPC SPS Standards Task Force, European Commission Expert Group on E-invoicing and Italian Committee for SEPA migration. She also sits at the Network & Standards Subgroup of the mentioned Expert Group.

She is also active in payments-related industry Forum and coordinates the Italian Bankers’ Association Consultation Forum, created to cooperate with companies for the realization of the SEPA payment services and for the evolution of the CBI functions.

Bo Harald


Bo Harald has since the beginning of 2006 been in charge of the Executive Advisors unit at Tie-toEnator. On December 2007 he was appointed as the Chairman to the EU Expert Group on Electronic Invoicing.

Before that his professional career (1975-2005) focused on developing Nordea’s Electronic Banking an payments operations. He held managerial positions among others in Union Bank of Finland International, Luxembourg, Deputy Managing Director of Union Bank of Finland Sin-gapore, Managing Director of Union Bank of Finland in London, Board Member of Union Bank of Finland, Head of Corporate Sector, Large Corporations and Helsinki District.

After the merger of Union Bank of Finland and Kansallis-Osake-Pankki to form Merita Bank in 1995, he had board responsibility for Western Finland and Payments & Network Banking.

In 1998 Merita Bank and Nordbanken (Sweden) formed MeritaNordbanken (later Nordea) Mr. Harald was appointed Executive Vice President, Payments and Network Banking.

Mr. Harald also served as Chairman of Mobey (Mobile Financial Services Forum) and has held and holds directorships in various companies and associations. He is a frequent lecturer of Inter-net and E-commerce topics and was named by Institutional Investor in 2000-2003 as one of the most influential technologists of the 20th century. He was granted the first award by the Finnish Min-istry of Transport and Communications for promoting the information society in 2004.

Manish Jain


Manish Jain is a Director in the Global Transaction Services business at Citi. He is the global product manager responsible for Citi’s TreasuryVision®, Connectivity and Digital Identity Management products. Prior to joining Citi, Manish held various technology positions with Mercedes-Benz Credit Corporation and People’s Bank. Manish holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut and a BE in Civil Engineering.

Peter Jones


Peter Jones is the Managing Director of Payment Systems Europe (PSE Consulting), a company he owns and founded in 1991. His career spans 40 years and includes time with C&A Brennekmyer, the Dutch retailer, 17 years with RBSG/National Westminster Bank (CenterFile its processing company) and 6 years with the DMR Group (now Fujitsu). PSE Consulting is a specialist payments research and consulting company. Its clients include major banks, interbank processors and card schemes. Peter is well known within European payments businesses and is a regular and sometimes controversial writer on payments related topics. He is an active contributor to the SEPA debate and as written a number of papers which have been widely circulated and read by the European Payments Council members, by the European Central Bank and by the European Commission. He has specifically focused on many of the key strategic issues that need to be considered in developing the SEPA blueprint and also implementing SEPA concepts.

Jesper Lohmann


Jesper Lohmann M.Sc. (econ.), Executive VP, DIBS Payment Services AB has experience from management positions in several Danish companies and as venture capital investor. Has served on the board of DIBS since 2001 and is currently heading business development activities.

Charlie McCreevy


Charlie McCreevy, born in 1949, qualified as a chartered accountant. In 1977 he was first elected to Dáil Eireann (Irish Parliament) for the constituency where he was born - County Kildare, Ireland. He has resigned his seat to become a Member of the European Commission. Since 1992 he has held various cabinet posts in Fianna Fail-led governments including: Minister for Social welfare, Minister for Tourism and Trade and latterly (1997) Minister for Finance.

Bas Rebel


For more than 15 years now Bas Rebel is active on the demand side of the payment processing industry. In 2004 he joined Zanders treasury & finance solutions as executive consultant. Prior to joining Zanders he has been product manager at alterna technologies and European treasurer for Perkin Elmer. He started his career at Bank Mees & Hope / MeesPierson.

Bas and has been involved in building business cases for advanced payment factories and in-house banking and the implementation thereof. While being an innovator, Bas maintains a pragmatic focus on operational efficiency and financial effectiveness of solutions under consideration.

Michael Steinbach


Michael Steinbach (1961) is Chairman of Equens’ Board of Directors since 1 May 2007. He has been spokesman of the Board of Directors of Transaktionsinstitut für Zahlungsverkehrsdienstleistungen AG (TAI) since July 2003. Prior to his appointment at TAI in 2003 he was a director of DZ BANK AG (Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank), where he headed the payments department.

During his career Michael Steinbach has gained extensive experience in payments. In 1985 he became head of the electronic payments department at the then "Genossenschaftliche Zentralbank" or GZB-Bank (cooperative central bank) in Stuttgart. Since then he has headed increasingly large and complex payment divisions formed by mergers in the German banking world. Steinbach is a member of many significant national and international payment committees.

Paul Taylor


Paul Taylor is head of international market development, responsible for VocaLink's European strategy, diversification and growth.

Paul has been instrumental in developing the company’s Single Euro Payments Area proposition and with the launch of VocaLink’s Euro CSM, secured a network of reach partners. This is essential in providing VocaLink’s customers with the ability to make payments across the SEPA quickly and cost effectively. Paul is regularly approached for media interviews and speaks at conferences as an expert on the payments industry.

Prior to joining VocaLink, Paul was a strategy consultant in the financial services industry for Deloitte. Paul's client assignments at Deloitte included working on the delivery of a global enterprise management solution at Barclays and on the deployment and rollout of a customer relationship management solution at global banks including ABN-Amro.

Paul holds a BA in International Business and Modern Languages and is also an alumnus of the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Clermont-Ferrand, France.
